Natural summer therapy: Healing through beaches, forests, and stargazing
When summer arrives with its golden sun and long, lazy evenings, many of us instinctively long for nature. It's not just a seasonal mood—it's something much deeper. Nature offers us therapy, transformation, and even answers we didn't know we were looking for.
This summer, I became wholeheartedly convinced of one thing: nature isn't just a place we go to relax—it's a place we go to remind ourselves who we are. Whether it's the rhythm of the waves, the scent of pine trees in a deep forest, or the quiet wonder of a starry sky, summer offers us a beautiful opportunity to reconnect and find balance.
This time, I'll explore how beaches, forests, and stargazing can be more than just a backdrop—they can be our natural summer therapy, helping us heal, grow, and dream bigger...
Beaches: Where emotions meet the surf
Standing on the ocean shore is a deeply spiritual experience. The vastness reminds us that we are small, but never insignificant. The waves teach us resilience—no matter how many times they break, they always return, stronger and more confident.
What are the benefits?
It calms the nervous system thanks to the negative ions in the salty air.
It increases serotonin (the happiness hormone) levels just by being near the water.
It inspires emotional clarity and openness—great for journaling or reflection.
Try it: Ocean Gratitude Ritual
Next time you're at the beach, take three deep breaths. Write down (or say out loud) five things you are grateful for. Then go to the water and let the waves touch your feet. Imagine your gratitude flowing into the universe like waves. It may sound simple, but it is incredibly grounding and expansive.
Last summer, I was facing an important life decision—whether to leave a secure job and pursue a dream that terrified me. One morning, as I walked barefoot on the damp grass at sunrise, I whispered aloud, "Show me if I'm ready." That same week, unexpected support and synchronicity appeared. I said yes. And that changed everything.
Forests: Nature's sacred refuge
The forest encourages us to slow down. Unlike the open space of the beach, the forest whispers. It invites you to listen—to your breath, to the rustling of leaves, to your own soul.
What are the benefits?
It strengthens the immune system (phytoncides from trees promote health).
It lowers cortisol levels and helps regulate anxiety.
It increases creativity and mental clarity.
Try it: Walking meditation and setting intentions
Find a trail or green path. Walk slowly and mindfully—no phone, no podcast. With each step, repeat a gentle mantra, such as "I am safe. I am open. I am growing." Halfway through, stop and place your hand on a tree. Whisper your summer intention. Trees are ancient witnesses—let them hold it with you.
The Japanese call this Shinrin-yoku, or "forest bathing." It's more than just a walk—it's an energetic cleansing. I like to combine it with card readings or journaling on a fallen log. Forests hold ancient wisdom. They remind us that we are part of something ancient and alive.
Stargazing: Connecting with infinity
Under a sky full of stars, there is no ego. Only possibilities.
When we gaze at the stars, we realize that we are made of the same elements as the universe. It is humbling, calming, and immensely empowering.
Benefits
Reduces stress by changing your perspective.
Promotes thinking in broader contexts.
Promotes manifestation and goal setting.
Try it: Star manifestation circle
Gather a few close friends or go out alone.
Take a blanket, a candle, and a notebook. Lie down under the stars and write down your "vision of the future" — not just what you want, but how you will feel. Light the candle and say, "I believe in the timing of my dreams." Let the stars be your witnesses. Then let it go.
Honestly...
This ritual changed the way I set goals. Last year, under the July sky, I wrote down a specific dream that I would continue writing my first book. To be honest, I felt silly because I knew from the start how challenging it would be to complete a creative work. But within a year, I made progress on my work and am now close to completing the first draft. We need to give ourselves space for dreams where there are no limits.
Summer is your time to grow
Summer isn't just for vacation. It's for becoming.
Here are a few steps that helped me move forward in my life and that may help you too:
- Say yes to small adventures. A trip to see the sunrise, a road trip to a seaside town, dancing barefoot in the grass—all of these things can bring joy and new energy.
- Keep a "growth or gratitude journal." Every evening, write down at least one thing you learned, noticed, or appreciated.
- Connect with people who are close to you spiritually. Summer energy is magnetic—go where the light is, both literally and emotionally.
- Practice courage, even if only quietly. Maybe it's sending that email, signing up for that program, or simply believing that you are worthy. Let nature be your strength.
The earth knows what you need...
This summer, choose healing that doesn't come in a bottle or on a screen. Let the earth embrace you. Let the water cleanse you. Let the stars inspire you. Let the forest teach you.
You don't have to have everything planned out. But if you take one step barefoot, take one breath of pine-scented air, or make a wish under the stars, you will be one step closer than you were yesterday.
This is your season. Not for hustle and bustle, but for healing. For growth in joy.
To remind yourself what it's like to be wild and fully yourself.
Have you ever experienced a moment of healing in nature? What did you discover thanks to this magical power?
